Evesham - Merstow Green

Bring your bikes as the cycling is well worth the trip!

Haselor Farm Holiday Studio offers cyclists a great place to stay while exploring the Cotswolds. The country roads in the Vale and Cotswolds are ideal for those road cyclist looking for a picturesque day in the saddle. The Vale of Evesham is relatively flat for beginners, but the hills of the Cotswolds are easily accessable for those looking for a greater challenge and include the climbs of Dovers Hill, Snowshill (as seen in the main image above) and Saintbury Hill - and yes we have a route that includes all three in one ride.

Local Bike Shops in Evesham and Pershore

We also have a good selection of local independent cycling shops within Evesham and nearby Pershore. Vale Cycles in Evesham and Echelon in Pershore. We also have Halfords nearby which as a reasonably large cycle section. Map showing the Local Bike Shops in Evesham.

Mountain biking and Bredon Hill

If mountain biking is your thing then you have come to the right place. As we are situated on a farm there are plenty of fields and tracks you can ride around (conditions being favourable). Just a few miles down the road is Bredon Hill which not only offers a nice 17mile loop for roadies (download gpx file) but an abundence of tracks and trails up the hill to the amazing views at the top. There are plenty of villages with pubs for lunch and refreshments before heading back out on the bike and back up or round the hill.

Nice and easy cycling routes around Evesham and the Vale

The Vale of Evesham is mainly flat due to the River Avon and its flood plans - this means there is plenty of easy riding to be had for those wanting to tour the area without challenging themselves too much - obviously there are some hills but nothing to difficult.

We have put together some routes for you to follow on Endomondo:

Easy Route 1:

A short loop round the local villages - ideal for a leisurely hour ride before breakfast.

Easy Route 2:

Similar to Easy Route 1 but adds the famous loop of Bredon Hill. There are one or two hills on this route that will stretch the legs, but will make a leisurely two hour ride. Some lovely villages on the route with a local pub or two to drop into and a few places to pop in and visit such as Beckford Silk in Beckford. A nice mornings or afternoons ride.

Challenging and Longer Rides around Evesham

For the cyclists wishing to challenge themselves we have the Cotswolds within easy reach. The Cotswold offer some challenging climbs including Dovers Hill, Snowshill, Fish Hill, Stanway Hill and Saintbury Hill.

We have put together some longer and more challenging rides that will take you up and over the Cotswolds and give you some fantastic views over the Vale of Evesham and beyond.

Challenging Route 1: The 3 hills avoiding fish

Chipping Campden, Broadway and back to Evesham with a few hills thrown in! This route features the climbs of Dovers Hill, Sainbury Hill and Snows Hill. You decend Stanway Hill which is fast with sweeping turns but watch your speed as the final turn is fairly sharp. The distance is not that great but the 3 climbs makes it a challenging few hours cycling. It does feature the villages of Broadway and Chipping Campden if you need a nice place to rest the legs and grab a coffee between climbs.

Challenging Route 2: Cotswold climb with Broadway and Chipping Campden

A solid 51 mile route taking in Broadway and a climb of the Stanway Hill. The ride down into Chipping Campden is long and fast so make sure your brakes work correctly. From there it is reasonably flat so you can take your time and take in some of the delightful countryside that Warwickshire and Worcestershire has to offer.

Challenging Route 3: Cotswold climb with Chipping Campden and Stratford-upon-Avon

A good day in the saddle with this 65 mile route taking in a climb of the Stanway Hill. The ride then conitnues to Chipping Campden, the decent into the village is long and fast but the final part is quite bumpy so make sure your brakes are working. From there it is north on rolling countryside heading to Shakespeare country and Stratford Upon Avon. Once past the race course you head out towards Welford-on-Avon and through the Warwickshire countryside to Dorsington. Then enjoy a reasonably flat run back to base with maybe a coffee stop at Hillers Farm Shop on the way back.
